Mr. Crone is the founder (Shihan) of the United States Jujitsu Association, and an honorary 10th degree black belt in that association. He has studied jujitsu from a wide variety of disciplines and instructors since 1955. He is the Japanese Jujitsu Instructor for Warrior's Cove (martial arts school), the instructor of the University of Minnesota's Summer Youth Program (since 1996), and has taught jujitsu and self-defense programs for myriad community education programs since 1974. He has been offered ranks in internationally recognized jujitsu organizations ranging from 3rd degree to 7th degree.

Mr. Crone is a 7th degree judo black belt. He is the highest ranked judo native Minnesotan ever, accredited by nationally recognized judo organizations, The United States Judo Association and USA Judo (the national governing body for Olympic Sport Judo). Judo is the sport and physical recreation program that evolved from jujitsu in Japan in 1882. Although a sport-based activity, it is considered one of the two "official" martial arts of Japan, and the Tokyo Police Department requires all its officers to have or be working on a first degree black belt in either judo or kendo. It's application to self-defense and remaining close relationship to jujitsu is apparent.

Mr. Crone is the co-founder of North Star Martial Arts Academy, 1985, and remains its sensei emeritus and continues to teach there. He was a six year member of the National Olympic Junior Development Coaching Staff. He is currently the Collegiate Development Chair for the United States Judo Association.

Mr. Crone was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on My 19th, 1942. He was graduated from Washburn High School in 1960, attained his Bachelor of Science at Mankato State University in 1963. He taught high school English until 1969, and since has been self-employed in a variety of communications related businesses. He is also a currently licensed realtor. He and his wife, Shelley, live in Minneapolis.
